UC's Medicare Coordinator Funding Platform

In June 2020, the Via Benefits, administrator of UC's Medicare Coordinator Program announced the change of no longer using PayFlex for their funding platform and instead Via Benefits will be managing the participants experience directly through a new integrated platform that allows for more control over the user's experience. 

What this means for UC retirees

  • Customer service calls: Phone transfers to a third party for funding questions will be discontinued and participant calls will be managed by the same team responsible for enrollment customer service. 
  • Website enhancements: Participants will have easier access and better navigation logic when using the website.
  • Improvement to communications:
    • Bar coded claim forms that allow tracking of claim status
    • Added features to elect real-time status updates via email/text
    • Clearer explanation codes on Explanation of Payments and Explanation of Unpaid Expenses
    • Access to a mobile application that can be used on a smart phone or tablet, including features such as claim filing, claim status and account balance
